Chambéry, prefectura de la Baja Saboya, es
una ciudad que actualmente goza de las ventajas de ser zona turística en los
Alpes franceses, cerca de Grenoble. Está en la Región Ródano-Alpes, cuya
capital es Lyon. Desde 1232 fue
propiedad de la Casa de Saboya y desde 1329 fue capital de los Condes de Saboya,
hasta su transferencia a Turín el año 1562. Posteriormente Chambéry siguió
siendo capital histórica de los Estados de Saboya. Los Condes de la Casa de
Saboya fueron reyes de Cerdeña desde 1720. En el período 1792-1815 la zona
perteneció a Francia, y desde 1860 forma parte de Francia de manera definitiva.
Desde 1979 la presencia de la Universidad y un gran número de estudiantes
extranjeros, sobre todo italianos, le han dado a la ciudad un ambiente muy
internacional. Chambéry ha mantenido intacto su casco medieval durante 500
años. Sus monumentos más importantes son el Castillo de los Duques de Saboya y
la Catedral. Chambéry tiene un extraordinario hotel de gusto exquisito que se

Chambéry, prefecture of Lower Savoy, is a city
that currently enjoys the benefits of being tourist area in the French Alps
near Grenoble. The city is in the Rhône-Alpes region whose capital is Lyon.
From 1232 it was owned by the House of Savoy and from 1329 it was the capital
of the Counts of Savoy, until its transfer to Turin in 1562. Subsequently
Chambéry remained historic capital of the States of Savoy. The Counts of the
House of Savoy became kings of Sardinia since 1720. In the period 1792-1815 the
area belonged to France, and since 1860 it is part of France permanently. Since
1979 the presence of the University and a large number of foreign students,
especially Italian, have given the city a very international environment.
Chambéry has kept intact its medieval town for 500 years. Its most important
monuments are the Castle of the Dukes of Savoy and the Cathedral. Chambéry has
