El día 11 de Noviembre de 2011,viernes, se inauguró en Meaux, Región de Brie, en el Departamento de Sena y Marne, uno de los más importantes museos "de la Grande Guerre" de toda Francia. Este gran museo, completísimo sobre el tema de la Primera Guerra Mundial recoge la colección principal (unas 50.000 piezas) amasada por Jean-Pierre Verney (n. 1946), especialista y antiguo encargado de misión del Ministerio de Defensa. Este museo ha sido posible gracias al trabajo del señor Verney, del alcalde de Meaux Jean-Fançois Copé y del impulso de la Presidencia de la República Francesa. Todos ellos han colaborado en este proyecto que se inauguró el 11 de Noviembre de 2011 con la presencia del Presidente de la República Francesa señor Nicolás Sarkozy. Debo decir que tuve la oportunidad de haber asistido el mismo día 11 a la inauguración, pero fuí el día 12 porque el día de la apertura, la presencia de público era tan masiva que la visita al museo hubiera resultado imposible o no provechosa en absoluto. Aún así, tuve ocasión de saludar personalmente al señor Verney y al Alcalde señor Copé al día siguiente. Como soy amante de la Historia, y me interesa muchísimo el período tratado en el Museo, me siento agradecido por haber podido visitar este magnífico centro cultural.
On November 11, 2011, Friday, it was open in Meaux, Brie, a region in the Department of Seine et Marne, one of the most important museums "de la Grande Guerre" in France. This great museum, complete piece on the subject of World War I, hosts the main collection (50,000 pieces) amassed by Jean-Pierre Verney (n. 1946), specialist and former official representative of the Ministry of Defence. This museum has been possible thanks to the work of Mr. Verney, the mayor of Meaux Jean-Fançois Cope and the President of the French Republic. They have collaborated on this project which opened on November 11, 2011 with the presence of the President of France Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy. I must say that I had the opportunity of attending the same day to the opening, but I went on the12th for the day of the opening, the presence of the public was so massive that the museum visit would have been impossible or not useful at all. Still, I was able to personally greet Mr. Verney and Mayor Mr. Cope the following day. As I am a lover of history, and I have deep interest about the period covered in the museum, I am grateful for having been able to visit this magnificent cultural center.
