Cambrai es una de las subprefecturas del Departamento Norte, en la Región Norte-Paso de Calais que tiene su capital en Lille. Cambrai is a sub-prefecture of the Northern Department, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region that has its capital in Lille. This city is in French Flanders, who once belonged to the Dukes of Burgundy and the Holy Roman Empire; subsequent to the Hispanic Monarchy until the mid seventeenth century and since 1667 in France, when Louis XIV, the Sun King, incorporated these territories to his kingdom. Cambrai has hosted the signing of important treaties in the past, and was destroyed during World War I. The first tank battle took place here by November 1917. Cambrai is clasificated Villa of Art and History.
